About the Book
Demanding Ransom by Megan Squires
Sometimes life takes things away from you.
In nineteen-year-old Maggie Carson’s case, it’s taken more than its fair share.
Determined to move forward, Maggie embarks on her first year of college, hoping to finally put her past behind her, exactly where it belongs.
But that’s hard to do when the present is just as difficult. And even harder when someone like Ran, the gorgeous paramedic that keeps crossing Maggie’s path, challenges her to face things head on, rather than bury them like she always does.
Ran hasn’t had a perfect life either. But there’s something different about him, and something different about the way he makes Maggie feel. Maybe meeting Ran is life’s little gift for Maggie—a sort of consolation prize for enduring everything she’s had to go through.
But things don’t come easy for Maggie. Why should love be the exception? And just when everything starts to settle, it’s all turned on its head once again.
If there is one thing Ran has taught Maggie, it’s that you can’t sit on the sidelines of your own existence. When life takes something that’s yours, you have every right to demand it back.
Only for Maggie, that is easier said than done.
About the Cover: Demanding Ransom just recently got a new cover (click here to see the old one) and I LOVE IT! I think it looks fabulous and really fits the book. For some reason the old one always screamed “Paranormal” at me. No idea why. But this one clearly looks like a romance, and it’s so purdy!

Character Introduction: Maggie Carson
(Ran’s POV)
What can I say about Maggie? I’m probably not the best guy for this job, right? I mean, pick the guy with the terrible memory. Anyway, Maggie and I met totally unexpectedly, though I guess that’s how I meet most people: in the back of my ambulance. No one is really prepared for that kind of “love at first sight.”
But Maggie was different. I realize every guy says this about a girl at some point in time, but that must be because at some point in time every guy meets a girl that stands out from the rest. That’s Maggie for me. She’s feisty and stubborn (in all the right ways—stubborn can either be incredibly annoying, or an incredible motivator—for me I wanted to break through all that stubbornness to get down to the real Maggie). She’s devoted and loyal. Like with her younger brother, Mikey. She’s sorta his rock, and I can see how he’s that for her, too. But then there’s this issue with her mom. There’s so much hurt there, and I think it’s because those closest to you hurt you the most. And when someone, especially a parent—someone who is supposed to be devoted to you—just isn’t, that’s a tough pill to swallow. Poor Maggie has been choking on that one for quite some time.
That’s Maggie in a nutshell—feisty, stubborn, devoted, and loyal. Oh, and totally hot. Did I leave that part out? Yeah, she’s hot.
So, what did she say about me? You’re not going to tell me, are you? I’m gonna have to wait like everyone else for another blog stop, aren’t I? (I’m hoping she chooses to say I’m persistent, rather than annoying, but we shall see).

Oh, this looks interesting! Thanks for sharing with us. I love finding new books by new authors! I also love this genre and I always wonder what made the author choose to write for this genre? Did they just fall into it or was it a planned and calculated move?
