January was such an awesome month! I got tons of new books and almost every book I read was fabulous. Hopefully February will be just as good.

New books!

January 2018 book haul

Above is my physical book haul. It’s pretty insane! This is definitely not going to be a regular thing!

I got so many books in January because of my new bookshelves. I finally have room to store books so I went on a bit of a spree to complete my incomplete series (I quite often only owned one of the books in a three-book series), and buy some of my all time favourite books in hardcover when I previously read them as ebooks.

The awesome leather-bound books on the far left are Mistborn: The Final Empire and The Well of Ascension. The quality is amazing. I was afraid to actually read the book because I didn’t want to accidentally crinkle a page or smudge text or anything silly like that. But I did read The Well of Ascension and I feel like holding a book of such quality actually made it even more enjoyable. You could really tell the pages were not normal pages and there were a few pieces of red text at the start of each chapter… they’re just wonderful!

I also got some new ebooks. I purchased Moroda and the rest were from publishers for review.

I just started Sky in the Deep. I’ve heard great things about it so I’m really hoping I’ll love it!

Books read in January

January was AMAZING. I feel like I’m on a book high right now. With one exception, I’m loving EVERYTHING! If only this could last forever.

Book covers link to my review or Goodreads.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet

Origin by Dan Brown

Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

Although I loved almost everything, I have to say my favourite book was Children of Blood and Bone. I hoped it would be good, but it still exceeded my expectations. Absolutely wonderful!

  1. Your books are GORGEOUS! Especially your leatherbounds. I have not purchased any new books as of late, but my favorite read so far this year was Call Me By Your Name. Your tastes look far more fantasy inclined than anything else, so I will let you know I also had to reread Mystic and Rider by Sharon Shinn, the start of a beautiful fantasy romance series.

    1. Thank you! πŸ˜€ The leather bounds are truly amazing. Well worth the money (it took me a long time to finally decide to buy them).

I will absolutely check out Mystic and Rider! I love a good fantasy romance. πŸ™‚

  2. Ooooh, Sea Witch is SO on my TBR! Can’t wait to see what you think of that one!

January wasn’t bad for me, but it was exceptional either, really. I just re-read A Darker Shade of Magic – which I already knew I liked, but it was great rekindling with the characters and the world(s) – and started A Gathering of Shadows, which has been really great so far, but these days I read at such a slow pace. I have so many other things going on that it’s just hard to sit and read. >.<

I hope February is just as good to you! Cheers!

    1. Ohh I’ve been meaning to read A Darker Shade of Magic! It took me a long time to figure out if it was my kind of book or not, but I finally decided to buy it. Hopefully I’ll get to it soon!

  3. Oh, lots of awesome books!! I really need to get/read Batman. I feel like I had a really good reading month too. Favorite though? Hmm….The Chalk Man and Suspect Red were both awesome.

  4. WOW! So many amazing books! Those leatherbound books are seriously amazing and look totally badass. OMG! You got so many incredible books! I’ve been either dying to get my hands on them or just added them to my TBR list because they sound fantastic. And seems like you read a ton of great books. Really looking forward to To Kill a Kingdom & Children of Blood and Bone! I did a lot of rereading this month, but I really enjoyed The Cruel Prince & Godsgrave!

    1. Oh nice reads! I liked The Cruel Prince too! I haven’t read Godsgrave yet but I did enjoy Nevernight.

  5. Holy cow that’s a lot of books! I want to read so many of the ones you got.
My month was okay, I finally got back into reading and blogging, and so far I read 8 or so books (Including a graphic novel series I finished) And I started listening to audio books. So I got a bunch of new ones from audible along with discovering all my net galley ones on my kindle. It was like christmas

    1. 8 books is an awesome start!

Are you enjoying audiobooks so far? I gave them a try a few years ago but couldn’t really stick with them.

    1. Oh my gosh I ADORE Speak! I read it many years ago but it has stayed with me ever since. It’s a hugely powerful book.
