New Books
When by Victoria Laurie
Goodreads
Is this called When or Death Date? NetGalley and Goodreads/Amazon conflict each other! Either way, I read this book already and it was FAAAABULOUS!
New WordPress Theme
I finally released a new premade theme that has been finished but unreleased for weeks. Check out Chloe:
Chloe is super simple, but sharp and classy 😉 It’s great if you like simple designs with a lot of white space.
Low Carb Update
Here are some of the foods my husband and I had this week:
Home made tuna salad
With tuna, mayonnaise, celery, green onion, green onion. I’ve always bought tuna salad but this was my first time actually making it!
Chicken Chilli Soup
This soup was DELICIOUS! It was in the slow cooker all day and I kept drooling over my desk because it smelled so good. My hubby and I plan on making a lot more of this!
Chili (winter is coming!)
Mmmm I love chili! My husband and I actually make chili a lot, but we usually do it with beans and over rice. Obviously we can’t have rice on low carb and we’re not allowed beans either.. so this was our first time making it plain. BUT, it was also our first time actually making it ourselves (mostly). We normally just get chili from a jar, add mince, and put it over rice. This time we made it all ourselves, except we did use a chili spice packet for some of the flavour.
I feel like this picture doesn’t make it look super appetizing, but it was good!
First time eating out
Hubby and I went out to dinner for the first time since starting our low carb diet. We went to an epic burger joint that was well known for catering to us low carb folks. They have this deal on the menu where you can swap out the burger buns for a side dish like corn on the cob. So that’s what we did! The burgers (and the corn) were both FAAAABULOUS! We can’t wait to go back! I wish I took a picture. Darn.
Next up: Low carb cookies!
Next week I’m hoping to make some low carb chocolate chip peanut butter cookies! I’ve never made cookies in my whole life, so it will be interesting to see how this goes. If the cookies are a success, I might try these peanut butter cups next. I LOOOVE peanut butter cups!
I have When too! 😀 Gonna read it soon! That theme looks cute. 🙂
I really hope you like it!!
Looks gorgeous, I’m trying to get my own little blog book review website up with WordPress.org.
I thought as a well educated older woman I would have no problems at all setting it all up. I do fine until it comes to actually customising and posting stuff. I am so utterly stupid!
Your Chloe looks lovely, but even Chloe is confusing me simply because I am ” tech speak naive” ! Got to admire people like you, keep it up.
Thanks. 🙂
Happy to hear the low crab diet is going good.
Love the new theme!
I can’t believe you have never made cookies! 🙂 I can’t wait to see how they turn out.
I know! I think it’s because my sister is an EXCELLENT baker so she always made the cookies/brownies and other baked goods. 😀
Love the new Chloe theme. I’m one of those who love lots of white space. 🙂 Those low-carb meals look absolutely delish, too! They’re inspiring me right now ’cause I’m trying to lower my carb intake as well, plus I love tuna and chilli so I think I’m going to try those out for real! 🙂
Thanks! 😀 Going low carb really isn’t too bad. The only hard part for me is that I can’t have hot chocolate but that’s always been a part of my daily life. It only gets harder as the weather gets colder. 🙁
The new theme looks great!! 🙂 I’ve had my eye on When. I’m happy to see you enjoyed it. 🙂
I’ve been thinking about making a change, going to more white space. Is this theme as customizable as Tweak Me and can I still use UBB? Ohhhh and I’d like to put social media button links in the header area…is that possible?
It’s not as customizable as Tweak Me (hence the lower price 😉 ). I suggest you check out the admin panel here: http://chloe.supposie.com/
There isn’t an option to add social media buttons in the header. 🙁 I could do that for you at extra cost though!
Hmmm ok. Looking at it, I’m intrigued by the simplicity! Trying to figure out if I’d lose anything widgets etc if I switched. If I switched over, would I have to do all of my widgets over again or would that transfer to the new theme?
When you switch themes, usually your widgets go into a “Holding area” on the widgets page. Like at the very bottom if you have one that says “Unused widgets”. They’ll go into a separate area there. So it’s usually just a case of dragging them back into the correct sidebar.
(There is always the risk that you’ll lose a widget or two, but that’s not normal behaviour. That’s like a glitch in the Matrix. 😛 )
Ok. So, I switched. Everything looks pretty good. Still some tweaking to do but the book covers are not showing up on the individual post pages. But the covers are showing up on the homepage. Thoughts?
Are you using the featured image spot for images?
Yes, I place my covers in the featured image spot.
Right now the featured image isn’t set to automatically display. I can add that in later tonight though.
Ashley, you are AWESOME. Thank you 🙂
No problem. 🙂 It’s added now!
Chloe is lovely! I like the simplicity and the elegance. I have the TweakMe theme currently, and it’s working out great, but if I ever needed a new theme, I’d probably go with Chloe. 🙂
Also, that tuna salad is making me hungry.
Now that I’ve failed my glucose test and have to eat low-sugar and low-carb, I’m enjoying seeing some of the meal ideas you’re sharing 🙂
I might do a whole post about it soon! 😀
I’m doing low-carb out of necessity (you should check tomorrow’s post!) and I have an awesome chocolate chip cookie recipe. I’ll probably post it soon too 🙂
Ohh I’ll definitely stop by tomorrow! I can’t wait to see your cookie recipe. 😀
My family is on a low carb diet too! It’s pretty impossible to eat out with it mostly. GAH. But I do feel a lot better after not eating any grains for like 2 months. 😉 That’s a gorgeous theme you’ve made! I really love the simple looks, I do. Makes me glare at myself for still being on blogger, hehe.
I’m actually not finding it too hard to do low carb. 🙂 You’re basically allowed as much meat as you want, so my husband and I have had:
* Tons of bacon
* Burgers without the buns
* Sausages
* Loads of different chicken recipes. Sometimes we’ve just thrown bacon, chicken, and cheese together and it’s great!
For me the only REALLY hard part is going without hot chocolate. 🙁 That was a huge part of my daily life!
