Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.
Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.
If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…
OH MY GOOOSHHH! Five Ways to Fall was basically perfect! And it is now my greatest life ambition to become a citrus farmer. It’s going to happen. I shall have a farmer’s tan, drive a beat up truck, and pick oranges from the grove. And drink lemonade.
Honestly, I don’t know how K.A. Tucker does this. How does she write not one but FOUR damn-near perfect books? After loving the rest of the Ten Tiny Breaths series, I expected to love Five Ways to Fall, but it still floored me when I did love it. I knew it would be amazing, but OH MY GOD IT WAS SO AMAZING!!!
I always turn to K.A. Tucker’s books when I need a book that is guaranteed to be awesome. Are you in a reading slump? Feel like you’re not in the mood for anything? Sick of reading crappy books? Or DNF’ing five books in a row? Pick up a K.A. Tucker book. That girl will rock your world with some swoony romances. And a fucking orange grove.. which you can totally have sexy times in. *cough cough*
Like the rest of the series, Five Ways to Fall has AMAZING characters! Reese is witty, punky, and tough as nails. She rides a motorcycle, shoots her ex-husband in the ass with a paintball gun, and she’s a mean paralegal. And by mean, I don’t mean mean. I mean she can kick your legal ass because she knows her legal shit like it’s nobody’s business. It was kind of a fun coincidence that I decided to pick up Five Ways to Fall while in the middle of a Suits (TV show) marathon. I was sooo in the mood for a lawyer book. Five Ways to Fall didn’t have a ton of lawyer-ish stuff in it, but it was still fun to read about a girl who’s a kick ass paralegal.
And Ben! OH BEN! YOU ARE DELICIOUS AND AMAZING!!! I love how Ben wasn’t an asshole. He wasn’t an arrogant prick who decided to stop being an arrogant prick for a “one in a million” girl. He was always a very, VERY nice guy (and such a mama’s boy). He just had some issues with commitment.. but he was always very up front about it. He comes right out and says, “I’m not looking for a relationship—just a one time thing.” That’s just who he is. Although that’s not how I roll, I was okay with it because the dude was SO SWEET! He’s a fiercely loyal friend, he adores his mama, and he’s just trying to make a life for himself. I want to marry him and inherit his mama’s orange grove.
Ben and Reese had INSANE chemistry. It rolled off them in waves that literally made it hard to breathe. Their epic banter made them so perfect for each other!
Hot, swoony, and a gorgeous setting. Five Ways to Fall is another slam dunk by K.A. Tucker. I bow to her epic skills.
K.A. Tucker is awesome!
Agreed!
Just finished Four Seconds to Lose and I’m now starting this one! 😀
You’re going to love it!!
This sounds like something I’d love! I’ve never even heard of K.A. Tucker or any of her books! Ben and Reese sound super cute and I’m already excited about them because of your review! Adding her books to my TBR! Great review! 🙂
You should definitely check out her books! I’ve read this whole series and my lowest rating for one of the books was 4.5 stars. That’s impressive!
We’ve said it before but i’m saying it again–we shall both become citrus farmers. Okay? LOL i loved this book so much and completely agree that Ben and Reese has amazing chemistry! Five Ways to Fall was the perfect book to end the Ten Tiny Breathes series and i’m so happy it went with a bang! Lovely review Ashley 🙂
YES! WHEN DO WE START OUR NEW LIVES?!?!
I’ve been very curious about K.A. Tucker’s books. I’ve heard great things, but I’m always a little nervous to try them. I have no idea why. I’m glad you loved this so much.
You should definitely check them out! I’ve adored the whole series. It’s one of my all time favourites.
I think 4 Seconds to Lose is sill my favorite, but this was a close second. I loved Ben’s whole family situation – so emotional!
Four Seconds to Lose was another fabulous one. I also gave it 5 stars!
I heard the audio for this one and loved it! Ben and Reese were such great, non-cliche characters. I’m bummed we won’t get Nate’s story 🙁
I read Ten Tiny Breaths, but never continued the series! Off to Amazon to get the ebooks I go 😀 I loved Ben so much in TTB – I’m so glad he got his own story.
YAY!!! So happy you loved this one as much as me. I felt like this book was a little different from the rest of the series and it worked. Their was more fun sexy time than romance and I was just head over hills for the concept. Plus, CITURS GROVES!!!! Who knew they could be so sexy?
I KNOW! I WANT IN ON THAT CITRUS GROVE ACTION!!
Actually, Peter and I totally got married in a LEMON garden… so there’s that.
Omg wow! To be completely honest, I clicked on this expecting a negative review. Okay, I MUST READ THIS BOOK NOW. :O I’ve loved the series so far and I can’t wait to move on. 😀
