New books this week!
Yeaaaaah I’m psyched for both of these! They sound fab! And I love Victoria Scott’s Collector series.
Life Update
Life has been a little on the frustrating side this week. Of course getting engaged was amazing, but now I have two problems to deal with:
Major, insane jet lag
I flew over to the UK from California a week ago, and now I’m suffering from the worst jet lag I’ve EVER experienced. I think the main problem is that I took an earlier flight than I usually do. Normally I would arrive in the UK in the late afternoon and won’t get back to my apartment until dinner time, then I just have to stall for a few hours and then I can crash. But this time I arrived in London at 10:30am and got to my apartment around 1. But I was exhausted, and I had to suffer through the whole day! And since then, my whole sleeping schedule has been thrown off. I’ve literally become a bit nocturnal. I’ve been sleeping from 7:30am to 5pm most days X_X And that’s after usually laying in bed, unable to sleep for 4-5 hours (from 2am-7am). It sucks!
Stupid visual effects project
It’s due next week and it’s going to be the death of me. So far I have film footage of a street and I’ve put a 3D flying ship in the scene and it suck ass. That’s all I have to say about it!
But then, I’m free!!
Once this project is over, I basically have no more classes until I have a final exam and graduate in June/July. So I just get to kick back and relax with Coding God. 😉 I have A LOT that I’m looking forward to! Like wedding planning, making some new pre-made WordPress themes, and exciting bookblogging.net features! I’m so insanely excited for all of those! Can’t wait to dig in.
New book trading system!
This week I launched the new book trading system on bookblogging.net! Registered users can post books for trade, other users can make offers, then the owner can accept or reject any offers they want. Sweet!
So if you have books you want to swap with other bloggers, sign up and give it a go. 🙂
New designer directory!
I also launched a designer directory. If you offer design services to bloggers, feel free to list yourself! 😀 Other users will be able to review your services. The purpose is to help book bloggers find good, reliable designers to hire for their blogs.
Hope you feel better soon! I’ve never travelled on a plane before, so I don’t know how a jetlag feels, but from what I hear, I don’t want to either. xD
It sucks! I almost NEVER get it too, and I travel a lot. Just rotten luck this time. 🙁
Well, hope you feel better soon! 🙂 Being sick sucks. 😛
Woohoo for Fire and Flood.
That sucks about the jet lag. I have insomnia so I kind of know how you feel. What sucks is most my classes are in the morning but I usually don’t go to bed until 4am, so I am always on 3 hours of sleep.
OMG, you are so close to graduating. That’s awesome, girl.
Wow that sucks major ass! I could never survive on 3 hours of sleep X_X I’m like a crazy demon who NEEDS HER SLEEP! Do not come between me and my 9 hours.
On the first day of my jet lag craze, I slept from like.. 1am – 10am. For some reason I was still tired. So I went back to sleep, thinking I’d get another hour. Didn’t wake up until 5pm. Good lordy lord. I’m a sleep monster.
Jet-lag sucks! Really, really. I was like you the last time I came back from Canada in December, it took me longer than ever to get over it and finally be on a normal schedule again. I hope you’ll be back to normal hours soon!
I get you on your work to hand in. It’s always hard to make something that is good enough that the teachers will like it, but still also be satisfied ourselves. But hey, then you have lots of free time to do the stuff you love!
Your new books look awesome 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy them.
Thanks Lexxie!!
Yeah I’m really looking forward to the awesome free time. Mostly I’m hating this project because it’s all about visual effects (combining film making with 3D modeling) and I happen to hate both of those fiercely X_X
That sucks about the jet lag! I’ve never had that before since I’ve yet to go on a plane, but I heard it’s not fun.
Good luck with your project and wedding planning! I’ve been having a lot of appointments with wedding people the last little while, and so far so good.
I hope you enjoy your two new books 🙂
Thanks so much! 😀
Boo for jetlag! Thankfully I’ve never experienced it…I’ve only flown several times and they were never farther than 800 miles.
Yay for a design directory!! I’m thinking about starting to sell some custom graphics only, at least it would give me a head start. Maybe I can offer discounts on full design to people who have bought graphics when I can finally code…
Ohh you should totally sell some graphics! That’s definitely a good place to start. 😀
I haven’t read any of Michelle Madow’s books, but I see them everywhere and I have one of her series. I am going to meet her in April and I’m really exited about it. I love the cover of that book, too! I have Fire and Flood, looking forward to it. Enjoy your books!

Very cool! 😀 I met Michelle Madow veeery briefly at BEA last year, and that’s when I first learned about her Diamond Sisters book. So now it feels very cool to be finally reading it!
Jetlag is awful. I get it so easily. Even car trips across time zones. Like driving from Texas to Virginia, total Jetlag for me. I end up sleeping through the car ride to prevent getting car sick and then when I get to the destination I end up being so super drained that you would think I ran instead of slept in a car. I keep melatonin around for trips. I take 5mg an hour before I want to go to bed and usually take a bubble bath with lavender and within 20 minutes after laying down, I am out and sleep the whole night through. Love it because it’s natural since your body produces melatonin naturally anyway. Nothing else helps. Nighttime teas, hot milk, relaxing music, yoga, meditation, nothing.
Good luck with the wedding plans!
I so wish I could relax and have a bubble bath. I love that! Unfortunately I don’t have a bath tub. 🙁
I am very excited for both of these books!! Enjoy! I hope you recover from your jetlag soon. That’s no fun. 🙁 And I’m loving the new book trading feature! It’s an awesome way to share the books we love!
I didn’t enjoy The Collector Series but boy, am I excited for Fire & Flood! Woah that’s some crazy-ass jet lag-Hope everything gets back to normal soon.
Good Luck with your visual effects project and your wedding plans! 🙂
I seriously need to get Fire & Flood because everybody has been getting it and from the reviews I’ve seen so far everyone’s been raving over it. Also, The Secret Diamond Sisters looks really cute 🙂 Aww I hope the jet lag ends soon, though! I absolutely hate flying because I get horribly plane sick and then the jet lag that happens afterwards is killer. Good luck on your project, though, and congrats again on getting engaged! Happy reading, Ashley <33
I like that idea of Book Blogging design directories, so that bloggers will get reliable service. Congrats on getting engaged. I got Fire and Flood as well.

SDS is amazing! I hope you love it 🙂
Me and my friends spent a day (9 Hours) working on a Business Project in which we had to make bracelets! It was so tiring, hehe.
I really love your BB site! I also have Diamond Sisters AND Fire and Flood so Twinzies! Would you be interested in a buddy read? :3
– Nova
Aw, I would, but I actually already finished Fire and Flood, and I’m currently in the middle of Diamond Sisters! 🙁
Oh gosh! Fire & Flood looks fantastic! I can’t wait to read it…fingers crossed I get approved. 😉 That sucks about your jetlag. Yuck. I’ve only flown a little bit, but not across the world, so I can only imagine how annoying it’d be. Happy reading!
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! 😀
Awesome books! Got those ones too and I can’t wait to read them! (needs to upload her Book Haul but is really lazy…) Eep! Good luck with your project! You can do this Ashley! And I’m sorry about all the rough sleeping. I sucks I know. Since my trip, I can’t survive with less sleep. I’ve always needed lots of sleep but I used to be able to get away with reading late and still surviving through the day but now if I don’t get a few good nights of sleep a week I am a total wreck. Dang jet lag.
A designer directory? Brilliant I say! Go Asheybaby!
XOXO, Inky
I can’t imagine the hurt you’re in… I had a hard time going back and forth between San Diego and Cleveland (well, to Cleveland was easy!!). Adding another 5 hours – nope, don’t wake me up until tomorrow!!!
Congrats on getting engaged!!! I had no clue! Your ring IS perfect and I hope you get graduated and back to the UK very soon!!!!
What a great stack! Fire & Flood was SOOO good! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Happy reading – and good luck on your visual effects project! 😉
