It’s been over six months since the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Alex and Darla have been staying with Alex’s relatives, trying to cope with the new reality of the primitive world so vividly portrayed in Ashfall, the first book in this series. It’s also been six months of waiting for Alex’s parents to return from Iowa. Alex and Darla decide they can wait no longer and must retrace their journey into Iowa to find and bring back Alex’s parents to the tenuous safety of Illinois. But the landscape they cross is even more perilous than before, with life-and-death battles for food and power between the remaining communities. When the unthinkable happens, Alex must find new reserves of strength and determination to survive.

I read Ashfall and absolutely loved it! Ashfall was so intense and realistic. It totally makes you think and imagine what would happen if the Yellowstone supervolcano erupted.. scary stuff. I’m looking forward to seeing the story continue!

What book are you waiting on? Leave me a link or a note in the comments!

    1. It’s sort of a realistic science fiction book. It’s basically a fiction story of what might happen if the Yellowstone Supervolano were to erupt. In Ashfall, the main character is home alone when the eruption happens and it basically throws the US into chaos. Ash is everywhere, homes are destroyed, communication is lost. And he treks across the United States (not all the way across, but a state or two over.. I forget :P) to be reunited with his family.

Then it’s all about crazy people who will kill just to get food, and then there’s a super sweet romance.. yada yada.

I think the coolest part about it is that it’s a fucking scary story but it could totally happen some day. No one knows when the volcano will erupt. It could be tomorrow or in 100 years or in 500 years.. But whenever it does, it’s pretty devastating.

That was a super long answer to “what genre is it” LOL!!!

      1. LOL. that’s cool though. Now I have a better understanding. I never think about how big things like that can happen and we would be screwed. It’s freakin’ scary. Sometimes books that can mirror our lives one day scare the crap out of me. (eeewwww, that’s a gross saying now that I thing about it)

  1. “Mike holds a black belt in Songahm Taekwondo.” and he owns three cats. I love when author’s websites bring surprise. 🙂
The book cover is really nice but to be honest, I’m a bit put off my trilogies right now. I’m into a 400-page fantasy book which is only the first of a two-novels series (The Leopard by KV Johansen), and it only stresses me to think of all the books I’m not reading in the meanwhile!
