In case you missed it, check out last month’s income report.
May would have been an awesome month if not for some really annoying expenses. 😛 But even after factoring those in, I still had a pretty good month!
May Sales
- Affiliates: £162.20
- Design & Web Services: £1414.34
- Hosting: £262.32
- Pre-Mades: £1071.05
Total sales: £2909.91
This month was phenomenal for sales! I finally got paid for a big design project I’d been working on for a few months, so that was fabulous. I also made a withdrawal from some affiliates I’m part of. And to top it all off, my pre-mades brought in some excellent sales.
May Expenses
- Commissions: £19.14
- Conventions & Events: £249.93
- Hardware: £175.82
- Hosting: £250.04
- Licenses & Subscriptions: £219.25
- PayPal Fees: £35.01
Total expenses: £949.19
This month was HORRIBLE!!! First of all, I had a few more BEA expenses (business cards, train tickets, etc.), but that was expected. Then I decided to finally get my laptop battery replaced, which was like £100. But then, a few days later, my laptop charger decided to basically completely unravel so I had to buy a new one for like £75 (WTF?!?!). Then, a few of my more expensive licenses were up for renewal, so those took a big chunk out.
Sadface.
Even with stupid laptop crap, you did amazing!
Thanks! 😀
Wooaahh you made heaps from affiliate links! Good on you Ashley!
Thanks! 🙂 The affiliate profits were actually accumulated over several months, but I only just withdrew the money this month.
Congratulations! Never mind your hardware expenses: in Canada and France you can get tax credits from business acquisition and it can be quite significant. I’m sure it work the same in UK. Actually, since the BEA can probably be considered part of your job, it can also be claimed as a business trip. Keep all your receipts!!!
Yep the expenses I listed are what I will write off as “business expenses”. So that includes all of BEA and any computer-related hardware replacements. Still frustrating though! 😛
Awesome job, Ashley! That’s fantastic… well, except for laptop battery issues.
I have to ask… you do this for a living and I’m assuming you must like this field somewhat where you chose it, but in addition to all the amazing coding and computer technology that you’re into do you still have fun with it? Or is it stressful? It must be very rewarding to see your creations online and making money to boot either way? I love your stuff! It’s got a uniqueness to it. Your “stamp” if you will.
I do love it! My favourite part is making pre-mades. I actually wish I had more time to do that. I do like making custom designs for people as well, but sometimes that can be stressful. I always freak out when I send a client the initial mockup.. I’m afraid they’ll hate it! That’s the only thing I don’t like about this job. I’m just afraid the client won’t like what I make for them and that stresses me out.
That’s one of the reasons why I love doing pre-mades so much. I can make stuff that I like (which is fun), then people will buy it if they like it too, or they won’t buy it if they don’t like it.. you know? But doing something custom for someone is more of a gamble!
I can see that. At least you love your job. That’s so cool. A lot of people aren’t that lucky to have a job that they love. So it’s nice to see someone who does. I would far sooner quit my job and do nothing but read and write books… but I need money to buy those books I read! 😉
I think I was part of your numbers 🙂 I bought your tweak theme a few days ago and oh my gosh, I love it so much!! It’s been so easy to use and customize, and I finally feel like I like my blog now, lol. Next up is your UBB plugin-hopefully later this month for that one 🙂
I’m THRILLED that you’re loving the Tweak Me theme! 😀 I love hearing that. I think you’ll like the UBB plugin too. 😉
I love that you show this side of your business!
And booooo to having to replace batteries and chargers. I hate when that happens.
Yeah it’s a bummer. 🙁
